While the Bixby AI-powered Samsung voice assistant may not be a popular option for many, the virtual assistant certainly comes with various interesting features for Samsung users. The Korean giant has introduced several features to Bixby over time to make it on par with Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri. Now, Samsung has released its Bixby voice assistant as an app for the Windows platform.
Samsung Bixby arrives on Windows 11
With the Bixby app for Windows 11, users can run apps using voice activation, check weather information, search for files and images, and control devices connected to Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem with their voice. However, it is worth mentioning that Bixby is currently optimized to work on Samsung Galaxy Book devices.
In the app description, Samsung says that “there may be restrictions on the use or on some features if used by certain products or products made by other manufacturers”. Additionally, the company has added a list of Galaxy Book products that currently support Bixby for Windows. You can check the list below:
- Galaxy Book Pro 360
- Galaxy Book Pro
- Galaxy Book
- Galaxy Book Odyssey
- Galaxy Book Go
- Galaxy Book Go 5G
Apart from this, Samsung also claims that users need to run Windows 10 21H1 or later to run Bixby on their devices. I installed Bixby from the Microsoft Store and tried using the voice assistant on my Windows 10 PC. Although the app was installed on the device, Bixby presumably did not run on my computer.
So it appears the app is currently incompatible with non-Samsung devices. However, if you have a device listed above, you can try the Bixby app from the Microsoft Store. If you do, tell us your experience in the comments below.
