Earlier this month, I learned that Realme is working on a uniquely designed Realme GT Master Edition variant. Currently, the company officially announced the phone in China with another model called the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition.
Both phones were designed in collaboration with Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa and feature a suitcase-like back made of 3D vegan leather. Realme GT Master Edition and Master Explorer Edition are derivatives of Realme GT 5G released in March, but they are not exactly the same. They differ from each other in terms of chipset, primary camera, and display size.
Let’s start with Realme GT Master Explorer Edition. It features a slightly larger 6.55-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz display refresh rate and an internal Snapdragon 870. This is a step down from the regular Realme GT that came with the top Snapdragon 888. Also, the new phone has a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor instead of a 64MP shooter and 16MP, which makes the primary and ultra-wide cameras different. Super wide cam instead of 8MP sensor. However, the rest of the package is more or less similar. You’ll continue to have access to a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging, up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and an underdisplay scanner.
The Realme GT Master Explorer Edition, on the other hand, comes with a 6.43-inch AMOLED 120Hz display. This is the same as a regular Realme GT, but replaces the Snapdragon 888 SoC with a Snapdragon 778 chip. On the back, the Master Explorer Edition has a 64MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide cam, and a 2MP macro lens. This is also the same as the normal model. But on the front, the selfie camera has been upgraded from an 8MP to a 32MP shooter. The phone also has a slightly smaller 4,300mAh battery that charges through a 65W quick charger.
The Realme GT Master Series will be available in China from July 30th. The Master Edition starts at RMB 2,399 (~ $ 370) for the 8GB / 128GB variant, and the 12GB / 256GB model sells for RMB 2,599 (~ $ 400). The Master Explorer Edition, on the other hand, starts at RMB 2,799 (~ $ 432) on the base model and goes up to RMB 3,099 (~ $ 478) on the top variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Both phones will be launched globally at a later date, according to Realme.
